Jazz Alive

an American experiance, an American original

If Miles was alive today - what music would he be playing?

Let's talk about Miles. My appreciation of jazz began in 1946 - so my listening stream of jazz encompasses many styles and many artists - some artists evolved through different jazz styles and became giants  - some stayed in one style and became giants - Miles, in my opinion, was a giant and doesn't fit into a jazz style - unless you consider him a style in himself - here's an example of how Miles was thought of as said by a trumpet player friend of mine back in the 60's - his statement was "Miles says more in the silences between his notes then most trumpet players say with playing their notes". Miles was an enigma - a mystery - a riddle (stealing from Churchill). We have lived through almost 20 years of jazz without Miles - but his music and influence have continued - from "cool" to "fusion" with "Porgy" and "Sketches" in between - Miles is still with us. So, here is my question - What music would Miles be playing today or ............... would he have stopped playing waiting for history to catch up to his creativity?????
