Don Carr, PresidentPerformer, leader, teacher, businessman – performed in big bands and groups in Cincinnati in the 50’s while attending CCM and the Univ. of Cincinnati – after finishing military service was on the staff of Ohio State University Music School teaching Music Theory and Music Appreciation while leading his big band The Fresh Approach, performing in small groups, and working as a sideman in shows and fairs in the Midwest. He spent 33 years in the health and fitness industry in the capacities of owner, consultant, manager, and trainer in sales and marketing.

Jim Anderson, Vice PresidentJazz bassist, Jim Anderson, has long been a respected performer and jazz composer. His jazz experience is world class, having toured with the notable Art Blakey, Ernestine Anderson, Hank Crawford, and Nat Adderly. Locally, Jim has been a co-leader of the highly esteemed Cohesion Jazz Ensemble and is continually in demand to perform in local and regional groups. Jim has most recently performed with Joshua Redman at CCM and with Gary Bartz & Lewis Nash at the Dayton Art Institute.

Nate HendersonRetired business executive Nate Henderson has been a lover of jazz & blues all of his life. Nate was fortunate to grow up in the area of Cincinnati that featured the major jazz clubs - giving him the opportunity to hear the best of both local and international jazz artists. Today, he shares his knowledge of jazz and his jazz experiences by way of jazz radio, in promoting concerts, and helping schools preserve this truly American art form with jazz classes and teacher training. His executive experience as recruiter, human resource manager, affirmative action director, and marketing manager greatly adds to the mission of Jazz Alive.

Joe Gaudio – Master in Music – College – Conservatory of Music

Joe Gaudio, TreasurerJoe Gaudio, saxophonist, is a member and business manager for the nationally recognized Blue Wisp Big Band. He presently performs with the Blue Wisp Big Band & the Psycho-Acoustic Orchestra. During his musical career, he has performed with the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, The Cincinnati Pops, The Cincinnati Symphony Orchesta and includes performances with international artists Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Williams, Mel Torme, and Aretha Franklin .

Larry Kinley, Dir. Senior ServicesLarry is a master Jazz vocalist – his style reflects his years of experience with Merv Griffin, Henry Mancini, and Tony Bennett and the many years of being a staff vocalist on television stations WLW-TV & WCPO.TV – add to that his 23 years as vocalist with the renowned Frank Vincent Trio. Larry is now splitting his singing talent between being a church cantor (17yrs) and performing over 100 concerts per year for jazz loving senior citizens.

Jazz Radio Personality – Musician – Investment Consultant

Bob Nave, Dir. Media OperationsBob  recently retired from Hilliard Lyons where he was a  vice-president/ senior investment consultant. He has hosted jazz radio programs since 1970 on WOXR-FM, WNOP, and WVXU-FM where he produced and hosted "The Bop Connection" and "Jazz Arts Alive".  As a musician Bob studied and played French Horn in high school and Miami University concert band and orchestra.

Self taught on keyboards, he began playing piano & organ in the late 50's performing in local roadhouses & dance halls with rhythm & blues bands. He was a lifetime recipient of a LIfetime Cammy Award for his work with The Lemon Pipers, who rose to the top of the pop charts in 1968 with their multi-million seller "Green Tambourine".  Bob now plays Hammond organ, piano and sings with The Blues Merchants. He is also a director on the board of Play It Forward.

Gordon BriskerOur classmate, our friend, the spokesperson for the spirit of humanity, and world class saxophonist - composer - and arranger was one of the original creators and officers of Jazz Alive Inc.

We will miss him, his music, and his uncanny humor.

In memory of Gordon, his name will be associated with all Jazz Alive educational programs.
